FAMILY TOURING
Touring with families is a great adventure and provides lasting memories for children. On a road trip you are free to move as often as you like and discover whole new areas. You can also get away all year round.
To make family touring easy and fun, we provide hot drinks, milk & biscuits for the journey and a selection of the best travel games to enjoy. Both our campers have comfy beds with reading lights and windows to watch the world. They also have charging points for mobiles and tablets, as well as outdoor furniture to enjoy the fresh air. The Joa Camp motorhome also features a TV / DVD player and picnic set.
What next? Just read our 4 top tips for touring with families (from our own 15 years' experience with three children!).
Tip 1: Choose the best camper for your needs
A motorhome gives you fixed beds, a bathroom and somewhere for mum and dad to relax. This is ideal for younger children and larger families. A VW campervan offers more independence for older children in the pop-top or awning. Also decide whether taking bikes would be a useful for exploring.
Tip 3: Pack activities for the journey, early mornings and bedtime
Bored children don't make for relaxing touring, so pack some of their favourite books, music, toys, games and outdoor stuff. Do the same for the parents too!
Tip 2: Plan fun routes and places to stay
Plan interesting routes with breaks every few hours. Let everyone choose music for the journey! Campsites provide great facilities and somewhere to roam freely. Check out paths and transport links if planning to stay in area for a few days. Let children help plan days out to the beach, castles, parks to avoid moaning later!
Tip 4: Consider meals, snacks and drinks
You won't want to eat out every night so plan quick and easy meals (like pasta Bolognese or curry & rice). To keep the kids happy and well fed, pack lots of snacks and drinks too.
